Over 58 Lakh Voters Deleted from West Bengal’s Draft 2026 Electoral Roll

The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of West Bengal has released the list of names deleted from the state’s draft voter list as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), ahead of the 2026 elections. The exact number of pre-existing voters deleted stands at 5,820,898.

This significant deletion of over 5.8 million voters is attributed to several reasons, including death, relocation, duplication, and voters who could not be traced.

According to data sourced from the WB CEO, here is a breakdown of the deletions:

ReasonExact Number of Voters Deleted
Dead2,416,852
Relocated1,988,076
Missing1,220,038
Duplicate138,328
Others57,604

The Election Commission has provided recourse for affected individuals. “Aggrieved persons can submit their claims in Form 6 along with the declaration form and supporting documents after publication of Draft Roll 2026 during the period fixed for receiving claims and objections,” the Commission stated on its portal. The deadline for submitting claims and objections is January 15, 2026, after which the final electoral rolls will be published.
