NEW DELHI – On Wednesday morning, bomb threats were made against more than 50 schools in Delhi. This led to quick response from both the police and school officials. This is the second time this week that something like this has happened. On Monday, the same gang sent fake threats to 32 schools.
Delhi Police say that schools in different parts of the city, such as Malviya Nagar and Najafgarh, had the threat emails. Among the schools that got the scary messages were DAV Public School, Faith Academy, Doon Public School, and Sarvodhaya Vidyalaya. The sender, who went by the name “Terrorizers 111,” allegedly asked for $25,000 in cryptocurrencies and said they would blow things up if they didn’t get it.
Schools were quickly evacuated as a safety measure after the threats were made, and bomb squads, security personnel, and fire tenders were sent to the sites to search them thoroughly. Authorities are taking the threats seriously and following all the right steps, even if they haven’t found anything suspect yet.
The emails, which were threatening, said that the group had put “pipe bombs and advanced explosive devices” in the school buildings and hacked the schools’ computers and security cameras. The threats further said that if anyone tried to call the police, the bombs would go off right away.
Authorities and the public are both very worried about similar threats happening again and over again. In July, a similar spate of bomb threats were made, and other schools and even a college in Delhi got threatening emails. Almost 300 schools were affected by what turned out to be fake threats in May of last year. The Delhi Police are looking into where the emails came from and have sent cyber forensic teams to find out where the communications came from.
