New Delhi [India]: The e-Shram portal has recorded over 30.58 crore registrations as of January 28, 2025, the government informed Parliament on Monday.
Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Shobha Karandlaje, in a written reply in Lok Sabha, revealed that 1.23 crore workers registered on the portal in the past year alone, with an average of 33,700 registrations per day.
About e-Shram Portal
Launched on August 26, 2021, the e-Shram portal (eshram.gov.in) was created to establish a comprehensive National Database of Unorganised Workers (NDUW), linked with Aadhaar. It provides unorganised workers with a Universal Account Number (UAN) on a self-declaration basis.
The portal aims to support and facilitate welfare coverage for unorganised workers through key integrations with other government schemes:
Key Features & Integrations of e-Shram
✔ National Career Service (NCS): Workers can register using their UAN to search for job opportunities on the NCS portal.
✔ Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan (PM-SYM): Integrated with PM-SYM, a pension scheme for unorganised workers aged 18-40 years, providing a monthly pension of ₹3,000 after 60 years. The government bears 50% of the contribution.
✔ Migrant Workers’ Data Capture: Allows family details of migrant workers to be recorded for better support.
✔ Construction Workers’ Data Sharing: Facilitates registration of construction workers under Building and Other Construction Workers (BoCW) boards of states and UTs.
✔ Skill Development Integration: Workers can access skill enhancement and apprenticeship opportunities via the Skill India Digital portal.
✔ One-Stop Access to Government Schemes: e-Shram is now integrated with 12 key government welfare schemes, including:
- Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY)
- Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY)
- Ayushman Bharat – PM Jan Arogya Yojana
- PM Street Vendors AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM-SVANidhi)
- PM Awas Yojana (Urban & Rural)
- MGNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act)
New Upgrades: Multilingual Support & One-Stop Solution
✔ In January 2025, e-Shram launched multilingual functionality using the Bhashini platform, allowing users to access the portal in 22 Indian languages, enhancing accessibility and inclusivity.
✔ On October 21, 2024, the Ministry of Labour and Employment launched e-Shram One-Stop-Solution, enabling unorganised workers to access multiple social security schemes from a single portal and track benefits availed.
The government remains committed to expanding and strengthening e-Shram, making it a central hub for social security and employment support for India’s vast unorganised workforce.
