Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh (India), February 13: The ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj continues to witness an overwhelming turnout, with more than 2.73 million devotees having taken a dip in the sacred Triveni Sangam by 10 am on Thursday, as reported by the Uttar Pradesh government.
Among the devotees, over 500,000 Kalpavasis (those observing spiritual vows) and more than 2.2 million pilgrims have participated in the ritual by 10 am today.
As of February 12, the total number of devotees who have bathed in the Triveni Sangam during this year’s Maha Kumbh Mela has exceeded a staggering 482.9 million, marking a significant milestone in the event.
In other news, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai led a 166-member delegation to attend the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, accompanied by ministers, the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, MPs, and MLAs. CM Sai expressed his gratitude to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the Speaker of the UP Legislative Assembly for inviting his team to the grand religious event.
“I am thankful to UP CM Yogi Adityanath and the speaker of the UP assembly for inviting us…,” CM Sai said, while speaking to the media before his departure.
Meanwhile, actor Vicky Kaushal also arrived in Prayagraj to attend the Maha Kumbh, sharing his excitement with the media: “I am feeling good. I was waiting to visit Mahakumbh. I am fortunate as I got the opportunity to come here.”
The Magh Purnima ‘snan’ (ritual bathing) was successfully concluded on Wednesday, with the administration marking it as a major achievement. Anuj Jha, Secretary of the Urban Development Department, described the completion of the Magh Purnima ‘snan’ as a milestone, acknowledging the efficient arrangements made for the event.
The Maha Kumbh 2025, which began on Paush Purnima (January 13, 2025), is recognized as the world’s largest spiritual and cultural gathering, attracting devotees from all over the world. The event will continue until Mahashivratri on February 26, 2025.
