Israeli strikes intensify on Gaza Strip; casualties include women and children as total fatalities since October 7 reach alarming 57,882
Tel Aviv [Israel], July 13 :
More than 100 Palestinians, including women and children, were reported killed and dozens more injured in fresh Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip early Saturday, as the conflict shows no signs of abating.
According to Palestinian medical sources, the new wave of strikes has pushed the total death toll since October 7, 2023, to 57,882. Additionally, 138,095 people have been injured in the conflict, underscoring the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in the region.
The strikes reportedly targeted residential areas, further compounding the suffering of civilians caught in the crossfire. Medical personnel and rescue workers are facing increasing challenges due to limited medical supplies and damaged infrastructure.
While Israel claims its operations are focused on dismantling Hamas’ operational capabilities, the continued high civilian toll has drawn criticism and concern from global humanitarian organizations and rights groups. The United Nations and other international agencies have repeatedly called for an immediate ceasefire and unrestricted access for aid delivery.
The latest attacks also come amid stalled ceasefire negotiations and mounting pressure on both sides to reach a diplomatic solution. The civilian death toll, particularly among women and children, has further intensified calls for accountability and urgent international intervention.
As the humanitarian crisis deepens, hospitals in Gaza are operating beyond capacity, with many patients reportedly receiving treatment in hallways and makeshift facilities. Aid agencies warn of a collapse of essential services, including water, electricity, and sanitation, if the conflict continues at its current intensity.
