Oscar-Nominated Actor Graham Greene Dies At 73

CANADA – The world of movies is sad to hear that Graham Greene, a well-known Canadian First Nations actor, died on Monday, September 1, at the age of 73. His management verified his death and said he died in a Toronto hospital after a long illness.

Greene was an Oscar-nominated actor who worked in movies and TV for more than 40 years. His work as Kicking Bird in the 1990 masterpiece Dances with Wolves made him famous around the world. He was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the Academy Awards in 1991.

Since the announcement of his death, tributes have been pouring in on social media. Fans and other actors have expressed their sadness and applauded his amazing career, which opened doors for Indigenous actors in Hollywood. “Graham Greene was a cinematic GOAT,” one person on social media remarked. “RIP to the legend who owned every role.” Someone else said, “RIP Graham Greene,” and talked about how flexible he was. He was one of those great actors whose work I always liked seeing. He had a warmth and charisma that made whatever he was in better right away.

Greene was born in 1952 on the Six Nations Reserve in Ontario, Canada. He started acting in theater in the 1970s. He initially appeared on screen in the Canadian drama series The Great Detective in 1979. His first movie role was in the 1983 film Running Brave. His big break came when he was nominated for an Oscar for his role in Dances with Wolves. After that, he became a very respected and sought-after actor. He has a long list of movies that he’s been in, including The Green Mile, Die Hard with a Vengeance, and Maverick. He has also played well-known roles in major TV shows like HBO’s The Last of Us and Taika Waititi’s Reservation Dogs.

Greene won the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award for lifelong artistic achievement in June of this year. This shows how much he has changed the Canadian and international entertainment scene. His wife, Hilary Blackmore, his daughter, Lilly Lazare-Greene, and his grandson, Tarlo, are still alive.
