Operation Sindoor: India Strikes Nine Terror Camps In Pakistan And PoJK; Jaishankar Calls For ‘Zero Tolerance’ On Terrorism

In a bold and coordinated military action, the Indian Armed Forces have successfully targeted nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) under the newly launched Operation Sindoor, officials confirmed late Tuesday night.

The operation was a retaliatory strike in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen, and injured several others.

Soon after the strikes, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), stating:

The world must show zero tolerance for terrorism. #OperationSindoor”

According to the Ministry of Defence, the operation was:

Focused, measured, and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani military facilities were targeted. India has demonstrated considerable restraint in selection of targets and method of execution.”

Key Targets and Execution

Indian forces struck:

  • 4 terror camps in Pakistan: including Bahawalpur, Muridke, and Sialkot
  • 5 camps in PoJK

Sources confirmed the use of special precision munitions, with all nine targets successfully neutralized. The Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force jointly executed the strikes, reflecting inter-service coordination and rapid mobilization of strategic assets.

The primary targets were top leadership and infrastructure of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT)—groups directly linked to cross-border terrorism and the Pahalgam attack.

PM Modi Monitored the Operation

Sources further stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was directly monitoring the operation throughout the night, highlighting the political leadership’s deep engagement in national security decisions.

Press Briefing Scheduled

The Ministry of Defence will hold an official press briefing on Wednesday at 10:00 am, where more operational details are expected to be revealed.

Background: Pahalgam Attack

On April 22, terrorists ambushed a group of civilians in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, killing 26 people. The attack triggered national outrage and prompted swift counter-terrorism measures by the government.

Global Implications

Jaishankar’s “zero tolerance” message underscores India’s firm stance and is expected to resonate globally amid growing concerns over state-sponsored terrorism. Diplomatic channels are expected to remain active in the days ahead as India seeks international support and understanding for its actions.
