OpenAI has announced a special promotion for users in India, offering its recently launched ChatGPT Go subscription tier at no cost for one year.
This premium subscription, which provides users with benefits such as more images, increased file uploads, and enhanced access to GPT-5, is being extended to eligible users in India.
The 12-month free access to ChatGPT Go is available for redemption starting November 4 on the ChatGPT web interface and the Google Play store. Availability on the Apple App Store is slated for next week.
Payment Method Required
While the subscription is free for a year, eligible users will be required to provide a method of payment (credit card or UPI) to enroll in the promotion. OpenAI has clarified that no subscription fee will be charged until the 12-month promotional period concludes.
However, after the free year, the current monthly ChatGPT Go subscription fee will be automatically debited from the provided payment method unless the user cancels the subscription beforehand.
The promotion is limited to a one-time redemption per account and is available to new users, free users, and existing, active ChatGPT Go subscribers in India whose accounts are “in good standing.” Canceling the subscription after redemption will make the promotion unavailable for re-redemption.
