1. cameo restrictions: we've heard from lots of folks who want to make their cameos available to everyone but retain control over how they're used.
starting today, you can now give instructions to sora that restrict the type…
Sora has been sued before, with firms suing OpenAI for using established characters without permission. Some of the scenarios that were made caused trouble because they showed beloved fictional characters in ways that were rude or improper.
One user made a movie that was a parody of the TV show Breaking Bad, showing SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star in an underwater lab making “blue barnacle.” 404media said that in an even more severe scenario, SpongeBob was shown conducting xenophobic comments in his hometown of Bikini Bottom while looking like Adolf Hitler.
OpenAI then added an opt-in capability that lets organizations agree to let Sora use their intellectual property. Rights holders that choose to participate will have full control over how their characters are shown and will be able to get a percentage of the platform’s earnings.
You may get the web version of Sora right now by subscribing to ChatGPT Plus. The app version is only available to people who have been invited and is only available in the US and Canada. Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, stated that rights holders who signed up are enthused about this new type of interactive fan fiction. However, he also warned that the revenue-sharing model will need some trial and error to work out the best way to do it.
