Kupwara (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], March 17: A terrorist was killed in a joint operation conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Indian Army on Monday. The operation was launched based on specific intelligence about the presence of terrorists in the Khurmur forest area, Handwara, Kupwara.
During the operation, the terrorists opened indiscriminate fire on the army personnel, prompting the troops to retaliate effectively. One AK rifle was seized during the operation.
The Indian Army provided an update stating, “On 17 Mar 25, based on specific intelligence input regarding the presence of terrorists, a Joint Operation was launched by Jammu and Kashmir Police and Indian Army in the general area of Khurmur forest, Handwara, Kupwara. Suspicious activity was observed by vigilant troops and on being challenged, terrorists opened indiscriminate fire. Own troops effectively retaliated, resulting in the neutralization of one terrorist along with the recovery of one AK rifle. Operation is in progress.”
