Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], January 24: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis confirmed that one worker has died following an explosion and roof collapse at an ordnance factory in Bhandara district.
“According to the preliminary information, one worker has sadly lost their life in this incident. I express my heartfelt condolences and share the grief of the family. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured,” Fadnavis wrote on X.
He further mentioned that five of the 13 to 14 workers trapped under the collapsed roof have been rescued.
“Five workers have been safely evacuated. The District Collector and Superintendent of Police are on-site, ensuring all necessary support is provided,” the Chief Minister said in his post.
He added that teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and Nagpur Municipal Corporation have been deployed for rescue operations and will reach the site shortly.
“The district administration is coordinating rescue efforts with the defense forces, and medical teams are on standby to assist the injured,” Fadnavis continued.
The explosion occurred at the ordnance factory in Jawahar Nagar, Bhandara, earlier this morning. Rescue operations are ongoing as teams work to save the trapped workers. More details are awaited.
