Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla launched the third phase of the ‘Suposhit Maa Abhiyan’ on Wednesday in Bundi, Rajasthan. Speaking at a function organized at the Police Parade Ground, Birla emphasized that the campaign is dedicated to empowering mothers and safeguarding the health of pregnant women and newborns.
Birla described the ‘Suposhit Maa Abhiyan’ as not just a campaign but a mass movement that aims to ensure the health of mothers, which in turn guarantees the health of their children, ultimately leading to a strong society. “If the mother is healthy, the child will be healthy, and only a healthy child will build a strong society,” Birla said. He added that the campaign aims to lay the foundation for a self-reliant and healthy society by creating awareness among mothers.
He highlighted that mothers are not only life-givers but also embody compassion, affection, and sacrifice, making their health care an act of reverence. “Our goal is to reach out to women from every needy family and make them well-nourished,” Birla stressed.
In the program, Birla also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for various development works worth Rs 17.13 crore in Bundi and Talera Panchayat Samiti areas. Additionally, he presented nutrition kits to pregnant women as part of the campaign.
More than 1,800 pregnant women from underprivileged families have been identified for the campaign with the help of social workers. These women will receive health check-ups and consultations along with monthly nutrition kits until delivery. Health cards have been issued to monitor their health continuously, and doctors will be available to provide free health check-ups and consultations. Follow-up reports will be recorded in the health cards, which will also help ensure proper care for the women and their children.
