Om Birla Highlights India’s Constitutional Values And Emphasizes Global Cooperation During NDC Visit

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla emphasized the significance of the Indian Constitution, stating it has consistently served as a guiding light for the nation, shaping its democratic ethos and governance. Birla made these remarks while addressing the 65th batch of the National Defence College (NDC) Course Members during their study visit to Parliament House in New Delhi on Thursday. The event saw the participation of 124 officers from India and 32 friendly foreign countries, as stated in a release.

Birla highlighted the pivotal role played by both civil servants and military leadership in shaping India’s progress. He urged them to apply their training and expertise to understand the nation’s diverse social fabric and contribute to the betterment of society.

He further noted that governance capacity could be significantly enhanced through effective use of technology. Birla encouraged the officers to engage in continuous learning and self-motivation, acknowledging their crucial role in policy-making and administration.

With the 75th year of the adoption of the Indian Constitution, Birla reflected on the rigorous deliberations that shaped the document. He commended the vision and dedication of the members of the Constituent Assembly who created a Constitution that continues to guide the nation’s democratic framework. Birla reaffirmed that India’s parliamentary democracy, as envisioned in the Constitution, is strong, inclusive, and well-suited for the country’s diversity.

In his address, Birla also pointed out ongoing initiatives to modernize Parliament, including efforts toward digitization and the push for a paperless system. He praised how technology is being used to ensure transparency and make parliamentary records more accessible to the public.

Addressing India’s energy sector challenges, Birla emphasized the urgent need for clean and green energy solutions. He lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a sustainable future, underscoring India’s commitment to renewable energy and environmental responsibility.

Concluding his speech, Birla urged the participants to embrace the philosophy of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (the world is one family). He stressed that dialogue, cooperation, and mutual understanding are essential in resolving conflicts and promoting global harmony in an increasingly interconnected world.
