Telangana BJP Leader NV Subhash Criticizes State Govt’s Spending On Iftar Amid Financial Crisis

Telangana BJP leader NV Subhash launched a strong attack on the state government, claiming that while Chief Minister Revanth Reddy recently spoke about the state’s financial crisis during a conclave, the government is allocating Rs 70 crore for an Iftar party scheduled for March 25.

Subhash expressed concerns that several citizens, including members of the Muslim community, have questioned the state’s priorities, asking why such a large amount of money is being spent on an event when the state is reportedly struggling financially.

“The CM of the state in a conclave said the state is unable to cope with the funds… Today, we learned that around 70 crore rupees had been allotted for the iftar party, which is scheduled to happen tomorrow, March 25… several people from different zones of life, including Muslims, have been asking the government that when you have a financial crisis then why to spend Rs 70 crores,” NV Subhash told media on Monday.

Subhash emphasized that such funds could be better utilized elsewhere, highlighting that the BJP has repeatedly questioned both the previous and current governments regarding the misuse of public money for the appeasement of specific groups.

“If these funds can be spent on some other activities, that will be beneficial. The BJP has been constantly demanding the previous government as well as the Congress government on what basis the public money has been utilized and wasted for appeasement of certain sections of society…” Subhash added.

Earlier, Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar criticized the Revanth Reddy-led Telangana government for failing to fulfill the promises made in the Congress manifesto prior to the assembly elections. On March 19, Bandi Sanjay called the Telangana Budget a “disappointment” after a review, stating that there was no correlation between the budget allocations and actual expenditures.

“Despite this, increasing budget allocations and using them as a tool to deceive the people of Telangana is shameful. Moreover, the Congress government seems to follow the adage that a lie repeated ten times becomes the truth. This budget is completely disconnected from the promises made in the election manifesto. The six guarantees have been utterly ignored. Congress leaders, who once described their manifesto as a sacred document before the elections, have now reduced it to a mere scrap of paper, as evident from this budget,” Bandi Sanjay said.
