Nutritionist Recommends Powerful Seed Combinations For Thyroid Health, Glowing Skin And Better Metabolism

Seeds are often considered small but mighty superfoods — rich in fibre, healthy fats, protein, vitamins and essential minerals. From aiding digestion to supporting heart health, they offer numerous benefits when included in a balanced diet. Recently, nutritionist and wellness expert Deepsikha Jain shared on Instagram a set of easy seed combinations that may help support thyroid function, promote skin healing and improve metabolic balance.

In her video, Deepsikha explained that pairing certain seeds can significantly boost the body’s intake of micronutrients, fibre and antioxidants. “Best seed combinations for your health. Seeds have the highest benefits to improve your nutrition. Soak them prior and take up to 1-2 teaspoons of each daily,” she mentioned in the caption.

For Heart Health, Diabetes and Cholesterol: Fenugreek + Flaxseeds

Deepsikha highlighted the benefits of combining fenugreek seeds with flaxseeds, especially for individuals managing cholesterol or diabetes.

Both seeds are high in dietary fibre, which may:

  • Reduce glucose absorption
  • Improve insulin sensitivity
  • Support digestion

“If you combine flaxseed with fenugreek seed, it will reduce your diabetes and cholesterol because both are very rich in fibre, which will make your body insulin sensitive and your heart healthy,” she said.

Fenugreek has long been used in Indian traditional medicine for blood sugar control, while flaxseeds are known for their lignans and omega-3 fatty acids — often recommended by nutritionists as supportive additions to diabetes or lipid management plans (alongside medical treatment).

For Glowing, Healthy Skin: Sunflower Seeds + Chia Seeds

Another combination she recommended is sunflower seeds mixed with chia seeds, ideal for supporting skin health.

This duo provides:

  • Vitamin E from sunflower seeds
  • Omega-3 fatty acids from chia seeds

Both nutrients are powerful antioxidants that help reduce oxidative stress, soothe inflammation and support skin barrier repair.

“It will give you very healthy and glowing skin… which is highly antioxidant and can reduce your skin damage,” she explained. Vitamin E helps protect the skin from UV damage, while omega-3 contributes to hydration and healing.

For Thyroid Support: Cashews + Brazil Nuts

To support thyroid function, Deepsikha suggested consuming cashews along with two Brazil nuts.

Brazil nuts are among the richest natural sources of selenium, a mineral crucial for converting inactive thyroid hormone (T4) into its active form (T3). Cashews also provide healthy fats and minerals, including moderate selenium levels.

“It will keep your thyroid gland healthy because both are rich in selenium, which will activate your thyroid hormone,” she said.

Important Precautions Before Trying These Combinations

Deepsikha advised keeping these points in mind:

  • Avoid fenugreek if you are on diabetes medication, as it may further lower blood sugar.
  • Do not consume more than two Brazil nuts per day due to extremely high selenium content.
  • Always consume ground flaxseeds, not whole, to improve absorption and prevent digestive issues.

Used mindfully, these seed combinations can act as a simple daily nutritional boost that supports overall wellness.
