Noida Police Ban Drone Flights Over Noida International Airport And Surrounding Areas

Flying drones or unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over and around the Noida International Airport is strictly prohibited, police officials announced on Saturday.

Speaking to media, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Manish Mishra stated,

“Drones and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) cannot be flown above the airport and surrounding areas. Doing this without permission will be considered a legal offence, and constitutional action will be initiated after registering an FIR.”

The warning comes as part of a broader security protocol, following the airport’s designation as a Red Zone on October 8, 2024, under directives from the Civil Aviation Ministry, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), and security agencies.

Officials emphasized the importance of public awareness regarding the airspace restrictions, highlighting that violations could attract serious legal consequences.

The Noida International Airport, a major infrastructural project located in Jewar, Gautam Buddh Nagar district, is being developed over 1334 hectares under the Yamuna Expressway International Development Authority (YEIDA).
Strategically positioned, the airport lies approximately:

  • 72 km from Indira Gandhi International Airport (Delhi)
  • 52 km from Noida city
  • 90 km from the Multi-Modal Logistics Hub at Dadri
  • 130 km from Agra

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone for the Noida International Greenfield Airport on November 25, 2021, envisioning it as a key transportation and logistics hub that would boost connectivity and economic growth in Uttar Pradesh and the surrounding regions.

Authorities urge all citizens, hobbyists, and commercial drone operators to respect the no-fly regulations and to seek appropriate permissions if drone use is essential for any official or specialized purpose in the designated zone.
