Noida Mahindra Thar Brawl: Third Suspect Arrested As Video Of Brutal Assault Goes Viral

Noida, June 9: In a major development in the Mahindra Thar brawl case, the Noida Police on Sunday arrested Jatin Tok, a 23-year-old clerk, adding to the two arrests already made in connection with the June 2 attack on 25-year-old Saurabh Yadav in Sector 53, Noida.

The violent assault, carried out allegedly by a group of 15 to 20 men, ended with Saurabh being hit from behind by a speeding Mahindra Thar, as captured in a 28-second video that later went viral.

Details of the Arrest:

According to Station House Officer Vidhyut Goel of Sector 24 police station:

“Tok works as a clerk in the office of Akash Awana, who is linked to a transportation business. On June 2, when a fight broke out between Akash Awana and the victim Saurabh Yadav, Tok had joined in and assaulted Yadav.”

The FIR originally named four accused:

  • Akash Awana and Aman Awana (residents of Harola, Noida)
  • Gaurav Chouhan and Kunal Chouhan (residents of Chhaprauli, Noida)

Both Awana brothers were arrested on June 4, while Gaurav and Kunal are still absconding. Tok is now the third person arrested in the case.

Background of the Case:

The incident reportedly stemmed from a personal dispute involving a message sent by Akash Awana to the female friend of Ayush, a Delhi resident. On June 2, the confrontation escalated into violence, and Saurabh Yadav, who intervened in support of his friend Ayush, was attacked by a large group.

The viral video, filmed by Saurabh’s brother Sumit Yadav, showed the black Mahindra Thar ramming into Saurabh, throwing him into a roadside drain. The chilling visuals, shared widely on social media on June 3, triggered outrage and demands for strict action.

Police Action:

“Efforts are on to arrest the remaining suspects. We are identifying individuals based on video evidence from the incident,” SHO Goel said.

Further arrests are expected as police continue to analyze the video footage and testimonies.
