Amid mounting curiosity about the next generation of star kids entering Bollywood, actor Akshay Kumar has definitively shut down speculation regarding his son, Aarav, who recently turned 23. While contemporaries like Shah Rukh Khan’s son, Aryan Khan, and Aamir Khan’s son, Junaid Khan, have recently embarked on their own cinematic journeys, Akshay revealed that his son has no intention of joining the film industry as an actor or even handling the family production business.
In a recent interview with ABP News, Akshay Kumar shared insights into his family life and his son’s career aspirations.
Aarav Prefers Fashion to Films
Akshay revealed that he is the more relaxed parent at home, leaving the role of strict disciplinarian to his wife, Twinkle Khanna. “She is a very serious kind and keeps all three of us – me, Nitara and Aarav – in line,” he shared.
Speaking about his son, who turned 23 this month, Akshay noted his studious nature, comparing him to Twinkle. The actor then disclosed Aarav’s firm decision on his future:
- Rejection of Acting: Aarav told his father directly, “Dad, mere ko nahi aana (Dad, I don’t want to come).”
- Production Disinterest: Akshay even suggested Aarav take over his production company, but the offer was declined.
- Career Choice: Aarav is currently pursuing his education at a university and is “deeply involved in his education.” His passion lies in fashion, and he is studying to become a designer.
Akshay expressed his full support for his son’s choice, stating, “He wants to stay in fashion. He wants to be a designer, and he’s studying fashion right now. That’s where his happiness lies. Of course, I’d love for him to enter films, but I’m happy with his decision.”
A Proud Father’s Instagram Tribute
Akshay and Twinkle have generally kept their children out of the intense media spotlight. However, on Aarav’s 23rd birthday in September, the proud father posted a heartfelt message on Instagram, sharing a rare glimpse into their relationship.
The note read: “Happy 23rd, Aarav! When I was twenty-three, I was learning to beat up people on screen… now it feels strange to see you beat me every day – from tech to fashion to dinner table debates. Dekhte hi dekhte itna bada ho gaya hai yaar tu… you make me feel like a proud sidekick in my own story 😅 Love you beta. Cheers to the best 23 years of my life because they’ve been with you.”
Akshay Kumar’s Upcoming Film Slate
The announcement comes as Akshay Kumar continues his own busy career in Bollywood. He was recently seen in Jolly LLB 3, which grossed ₹127 crore worldwide. His exciting line-up of upcoming films includes Welcome To The Jungle, Priyadarshan’s Bhooth Bangla (co-starring Paresh Rawal and Wamiqa Gabbi), Haiwaan (alongside Saif Ali Khan), and the highly anticipated Hera Pheri 3 (reuniting him with Paresh Rawal and Suniel Shetty).
