BEIJING – There was a big triumph parade in Beijing to mark the 80th anniversary of China’s victory over Japan in World War II. It was the setting for a rare three-way meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
The fact that the leaders were all there at the same time was remarkable, but a video from the event has gotten a lot of attention for a different reason. A lot of people have shared the video on social media. It shows two of Kim Jong Un’s staff members quickly cleaning everything he touched following his meeting with Putin. One aide is wiping the backrest of a chair in the footage, and another is taking a drinking glass away on a tray.
The reason for this large-scale “decontamination” endeavor is still not known, but it has led to speculation about North Korea’s strict security measures. One notion that hasn’t been proven yet says that the acts are a way to protect against Russia’s strong security agencies. The rumors come from earlier unsubstantiated accusations that Russia’s Federal Protection Service (FPS) collects Vladimir Putin’s human waste, including his excrement, when he goes abroad so that foreign espionage agencies can’t analyze it to learn more about his health.
Reports say that the meeting between the two leaders went well. President Putin openly thanked Kim Jong Un for sending his soldiers to portions of Russia during the war with Ukraine. much though the outcome seems good, the fact that North Korea is showing off its strict security measures makes these high-level diplomatic discussions much more interesting because they are so clandestine.
