“I Will Not Go Anywhere”: Nitish Kumar Reaffirms Loyalty To NDA In PM Modi’s Presence

PURNEA, BIHAR — In a public display of solidarity, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday pledged his unwavering support for the NDA, promising Prime Minister Narendra Modi that he would not leave the alliance again. Speaking at a rally in Purnea with the Prime Minister in attendance, Kumar reflected on his political journey, regretting his previous short-lived partnerships with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Congress.

“For one or two times, I went to the other side, upon prodding of some of my own party colleagues,” said Kumar, gesturing toward Union minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh ‘Lalan,’ whom he had replaced as the JD(U) national president. “But, that is a thing of the past. I could never be comfortable with those people. They always indulged in mischief when we shared power.”

The Chief Minister’s candid remarks and his firm assurance—”I am now back. And, I will not go anywhere henceforth”—drew a smile and applause from Prime Minister Modi. The rally was held just weeks before the expected announcement of the Bihar Assembly polls, making Kumar’s statement a crucial endorsement of the JD(U)-BJP alliance.

Kumar also used the occasion to commend the central government and Prime Minister Modi for their commitment to Bihar’s development. He specifically highlighted a number of announcements made in this year’s Union Budget, including the establishment of a National Makhana Board, which was inaugurated by the Prime Minister in Purnea.

Additionally, Kumar touched upon the welfare schemes initiated by his government, such as providing 125 units of free electricity and increasing social security pensions, demonstrating his administration’s focus on public welfare in the lead-up to the polls.
