Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Nitin Nabin has resigned from his position as a Member of the Bihar Legislative Council after being elected to the Rajya Sabha on March 16, in line with constitutional requirements.
As per the Prohibition of Simultaneous Membership Rules, 1950, any individual elected to both Parliament and a state legislature must vacate one seat within 14 days. Complying with this rule, Nabin stepped down from his MLC post.
In a message shared on social media, Nabin reflected on his political journey, recalling how he first entered politics in 2006 after his father’s demise, winning a by-election from Patna West. Over the years, he has been elected five consecutive times, building a strong connection with his constituency.
Highlighting his work, Nabin said he consistently raised issues concerning his region both inside and outside the House and remained committed to the development of Bihar. He also credited party workers and the public for their continued support, calling their bond “unbreakable”.
Assuring continued dedication, he stated that his new role in Parliament would further strengthen his efforts toward the growth of his constituency and the state.
