Cannes [France], May 16: At just 17 years old, actress Nitanshi Goel made a powerful and unforgettable red carpet debut at the 78th Cannes Film Festival, paying a heartfelt tribute to the golden era of Indian cinema.
Known for her acclaimed performance in the Oscar-shortlisted film ‘Laapataa Ladies’, Nitanshi captured global attention on Thursday with her elegant sartorial choices and emotional homage to the legendary women of Hindi cinema.
For her debut appearance, Nitanshi wore a custom ivory saree by Jade by Monica and Karishma, styled by Shrey and Urja. The look was more than fashion—it was a symbolic tribute to iconic actresses who shaped Indian cinematic history. Her hairstyle was adorned with hairpins bearing portraits of legendary stars such as Madhubala, Nargis, Meena Kumari, Nutan, Waheeda Rehman, Asha Parekh, Vyjayanthimala, Hema Malini, Rekha, and Sridevi.
Her intricately beaded pearl blouse, embellished with delicate embroidery, evoked the spirit of vintage Indian fashion. Accessories were kept minimal to let the tribute shine through with dignity and grace.
Later that evening, Nitanshi returned to the red carpet in a dramatic black gown featuring gold embroidery, also by Jade by Monica and Karishma, solidifying her as one of the standout debutants of Cannes 2025.
Nitanshi was at Cannes for the screening of ‘Dossier 137’, joining a wave of celebrated Indian talent representing the country on the global stage. Others present include Payal Kapadia, director of the much-anticipated film All We Imagine As Light, and actor Chhaya Kadam.
Veteran actor Anupam Kher is also attending the festival, where his second directorial ‘Tanvi The Great’ will premiere on May 17. Additionally, Indian films like Karan Johar’s ‘Homebound’ and Satyajit Ray’s classic ‘Aranyer Din Ratri’ are scheduled for screening.
