Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre India Weekend In New York City

New York [US]: The Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) is set to launch the first edition of the ‘Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre India Weekend’ in New York City, celebrating India’s rich cultural heritage on a global platform.

Scheduled to take place from September 12–14, 2025, the immersive three-day event will feature a vibrant mix of Indian music, theatre, fashion, cuisine, and traditional arts, as announced in a press release from NMACC.

Speaking on the occasion, Founder and Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, Nita Ambani, said:

“We are thrilled to bring the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre India Weekend to New York City for the very first time! It is designed to be a global celebration of India’s cultural legacy – our art, crafts, music, dance, fashion, and food. At NMACC, our vision has always been to showcase the best of the world to India and bring the best of India to the world. This special weekend marks the first step forward on that journey, celebrating the spirit of India on one of the world’s most iconic stages – Lincoln Centre. I am excited to share our rich traditions and legacy with New York City and the world.”

The weekend will kick off on September 12 at the David H. Koch Theatre, Lincoln Centre for the Performing Arts, with the highly anticipated US premiere of India’s largest theatrical production, The Great Indian Musical: Civilisation to Nation.

This grand production is a visual and musical tribute to India’s journey from 5000 BC to independence in 1947, blending dance, art, fashion, and music into a spectacular stage show. With a cast of over 100 performers, elaborate costumes, and magnificent sets, the show promises a theatrical experience of epic proportions. It has been conceived and directed by Feroz Abbas Khan, and includes a Tony and Emmy award-winning crew.

Key contributors to the production include renowned artists and choreographers Ajay-Atul (music), Mayuri Upadhya, Vaibhavi Merchant, and Samir and Arsh Tanna. Costumes have been designed by fashion icon Manish Malhotra. The musical will run for a limited series of five performances.

The opening night will feature a red-carpet ‘Grand Swagat’ (Grand Welcome) event, which includes the ‘Swadesh Fashion Show Curated by Manish Malhotra’, highlighting India’s traditional weaves and artisanry. Guests will also enjoy a curated Indian culinary experience by Michelin-starred chef Vikas Khanna, offering a journey through Indian flavours from ancient to contemporary.

In addition to the stage production, the NMACC India Weekend will extend to Damrosch Park from September 12–14, where a ‘Great Indian Bazaar’ will immerse visitors in Indian culture. The bazaar will feature fashion, textiles, food, and interactive experiences in yoga, dance, and music, making Indian heritage come alive in the heart of Manhattan.

The NMACC India Weekend aims to be a landmark cultural event, reinforcing the centre’s commitment to promoting India’s cultural legacy on the world stage.
