New Delhi [India], June 7: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against Ashu Korsa in connection with the targeted killing of Indian Army personnel Motiram Achala in Chhattisgarh in February 2024. The chargesheet was filed before the NIA Special Court in Jagdalpur, the agency announced in an official statement.
Korsa, a resident of Bijapur district, has been charged under IPC Section 302 read with 120B (criminal conspiracy), and Sections 16, 18, 20, 38, and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
The investigation revealed that Korsa was actively involved in the conspiracy orchestrated by the banned terror group CPI (Maoist) to assassinate Motiram Achala. Achala was shot dead during a family visit to the Useli village fair in the Amabeda area of Kanker district on February 25, 2024.
Initially registered by local police, the case was handed over to the NIA on February 29. The probe found that Korsa was a known armed cadre of the Kuyemari Area Committee under the North Bastar Division of CPI (Maoist). He, along with a senior Maoist leader, had identified and executed the targeted killing of Achala in a public marketplace to instill fear among local residents.
Korsa was arrested in December 2024 and has been in custody since. The NIA stated that the investigation is still ongoing and further action will follow.
