NIA Arrested Anmol Bishnoi, Prime Accused In Baba Siddiqui Case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) secured a major win against organized crime networks today, arresting Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother and close aide of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, following his deportation from the United States.

Anmol, who had been absconding since 2022, was arrested at the Indira Gandhi International Airport upon his arrival and subsequently produced before a designated NIA court in Delhi.

The Nexus of Terror and Extortion

The NIA stated that Anmol Bishnoi is the 19th accused to be arrested in its ongoing probe into the terror-gangster network allegedly operated by his brother, Lawrence Bishnoi, and Goldy Brar. The agency had declared a reward of ₹10 lakh on Anmol’s head and filed a chargesheet against him in March 2023.

The federal agency established that Anmol played a crucial role in coordinating the syndicate’s transnational operations from his base in the US:

  • Aiding Terror: He “actively aided designated individual terrorist Goldy Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi” in various acts of terrorism in India between 2020 and 2023.
  • Command and Control: He allegedly used the US as a hub to “run the syndicate’s operations, direct terrorist activities, and coordinate with shooters on the ground.”
  • Logistical Support: Anmol provided shelter, funding, and logistical support to the gang’s operatives and shooters.
  • Extortion from Abroad: He was also deeply involved in orchestrating extortion activities in India from foreign soil with the help of other gangsters.

The NIA noted that Anmol’s network, which by 2020 had grown to over 700 members and generated crores of rupees annually, showed striking similarities to the operational patterns of Dawood Ibrahim’s D-Company.

Key Conspirator in High-Profile Cases

Anmol Bishnoi is a wanted accused in several high-profile criminal cases across the country, including:

  • Baba Siddique Murder: He is named as a “main plotter” in the assassination of former Maharashtra Minister and NCP leader Baba Siddique in Mumbai in October last year.
  • Salman Khan Firing: He is also wanted in connection with the April last year firing incident outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s Bandra residence, with a Facebook account purportedly linked to him claiming responsibility for the attack.
  • Sidhu Moosewala Murder: His name also surfaced during the investigation into the 2022 murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, with evidence suggesting he helped plan the murder.

The US Department of Homeland Security confirmed Anmol’s removal on November 18, 2025, after his asylum application was rejected by a Louisiana court. His deportation marks a significant breakthrough, expected to provide critical insights into the gang’s infrastructure, funding channels, and international support systems.
