Netanyahu Confirms India Visit Will Proceed Later, Says He Has “Full Confidence” In India’s Security

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has clarified that he still intends to visit India, but at a later date, reaffirming his “full confidence” in India’s security arrangements under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The update came after reports suggested that his upcoming India visit had been postponed due to security concerns following the November 10 terror attack in New Delhi.

“Israel’s bond with India and between Prime Minister Netanyahu and Prime Minister @narendramodi is very strong. The PM has full confidence in India’s security under PM Modi, and teams are already coordinating a new visit date,” the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office said in a post on X.

Earlier, Israeli media reports cited, indicated that Netanyahu’s planned visit had been delayed after a bomb exploded in traffic near Delhi’s Red Fort, killing 15 people and injuring dozens more. The blast had prompted heightened security reviews.

According to i24NEWS, Netanyahu—who last visited India in 2018—was expected to return for high-level discussions with PM Modi towards the end of 2025. However, the trip has now been put on hold pending further security assessments, with sources indicating that a fresh date will be sought next year.

This marks the third time in 2025 that an Israeli leader has postponed travel to India.

Netanyahu’s previous India visit took place from January 14 to 19 in 2018, making him the second Israeli Prime Minister to visit the country. Following the recent terror attack, Netanyahu had expressed his solidarity and condolences to India through a message posted on X.

“To our dear friend @narendramodi and to the brave people of India: Sara and I, and the people of Israel, send our deepest condolences to the families of the victims. Israel stands strong with you in sorrow and in strength in this time,” he wrote.

Despite the scheduling changes, both governments have reinforced that the strategic partnership between India and Israel remains strong and that coordination for the rescheduled visit is already underway.
