NDA Confident of ‘Historic’ Bihar Victory as PM Modi, Rahul Gandhi Launch Final Rally Push

With the Bihar Assembly elections approaching, the political rhetoric is intensifying, with both the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the opposition Mahagathbandhan making confident claims about their impending victory.

NDA Confident: ‘Crossing 225 Seats’

Shambhavi Choudhary, a key figure in the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), a constituent of the NDA, expressed strong optimism regarding the alliance’s performance. She confidently affirmed that the public is geared up for the NDA’s return to power.

  • Government Formation: Choudhary stated, “A government is going to be formed under the leadership of CM Nitish Kumar.”
  • Seat Projection: Speaking to ANI on Wednesday, she projected a massive mandate for the coalition: “The public is fully prepared and excited… We are fully confident that this time the NDA will cross 225 seats.”

PM Modi’s Final Campaign Push

The campaign reached a fever pitch today, Thursday, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi set to hold major rallies in two crucial regions of Bihar.

In a post on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), the Prime Minister shared his confidence, stating that the people of Bihar are actively ensuring a resounding victory for the BJP-NDA.

“My family members from Bihar are themselves in the electoral fray to ensure a resounding victory for the BJP-NDA. In this atmosphere of enthusiasm, tomorrow morning around 11 AM in Muzaffarpur and in the afternoon at 12:45 PM in Chhapra, I will have the good fortune to engage in dialogue with the public. I am confident that in the assembly elections, once again, my brothers and sisters of the state will sound the conch of great victory,” the Prime Minister wrote.

Meanwhile, Union Minister Amit Shah also amplified the NDA’s campaign on Wednesday, holding rallies in Begusarai, Samastipur, and Darbhanga.

Rahul Gandhi Sharpens Attack: ‘Vote Theft’ Allegations

On the opposing side, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi addressed a joint rally of the Mahagathbandhan in Muzaffarpur on Wednesday, escalating his attack on the Prime Minister and the BJP.

Gandhi triggered a political controversy by reiterating his “vote theft” allegations, accusing PM Modi of resorting to any means necessary to secure electoral gains.

  • Allegations of Drama: Gandhi alleged, “He (PM Modi) just wants your vote. If you ask him to do a drama for votes, he will. You can make him do anything. If you tell Narendra Modi to dance, he will dance.”
  • Accusations of Electoral Fraud: He then doubled down on accusations of electoral malpractice: “They are engaged in stealing your votes. Because they want to end this election disease, I am telling you, they stole elections in Maharashtra, they stole elections in Haryana, and they will try their best in Bihar.”

The Two Contesting Alliances

The 2025 Bihar election is primarily a showdown between the two major fronts:

  • National Democratic Alliance (NDA): Includes the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Janata Dal (United) led by Nitish Kumar, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), and Rashtriya Lok Morcha.
  • Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance): Led by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), comprising the Congress party, the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) (CPI-ML), the Communist Party of India (CPI), the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM), and Mukesh Sahani’s Vikasheel Insaan Party (VIP).

Additionally, Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj has announced plans to contest all 243 seats in the state.

The Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in two phases on November 6 and 11, with the results being declared on November 14.
