NBC Cancels ‘Grosse Pointe Garden Society’ After One Season; Cast Shares Emotional Farewells

Washington DC [US], June 29: NBC has officially canceled Grosse Pointe Garden Society after just one season, leaving the cast and fans heartbroken. Despite attempts to move the show to Peacock, the network decided not to renew the Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs-created series.

Actress Melissa Fumero, who played the wide-eyed newcomer Birdie, shared her sadness via Instagram:

“This one stings. This job is not for the faint of heart… Thanks for watching our little show.”
She also posted behind-the-scenes pictures and affectionately added, “I won’t miss the shoes,” hinting at the demanding wardrobe.

AnnaSophia Robb, who played teacher Alice, wrote:

“Damn. I will miss our GPGS family. Grateful and proud of all that we made together.”

Ben Rappaport, who portrayed the gardening club manager Brett, echoed the sentiment, writing:

“Showbiz ain’t for the faint of heart… This was a special one.”

Grosse Pointe Garden Society followed the quirky lives of suburbanites in Michigan bound by their local gardening club. Despite its warm reception and unique tone, the show struggled to find its footing in the ratings war.

Fans and cast alike are hopeful the show might someday find new life on a different platform — but for now, it’s time to bid farewell to Birdie, Alice, Brett, and the garden that brought them together.
