The concert that rapper NBA YoungBoy was supposed to give at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, on Saturday, October 18, has been called off. The venue announced the decision on X (previously Twitter), but they didn’t say why they were canceling.
The judgment came soon after a public outcry over the rapper, whose true name is Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, reportedly getting a high accolade from the city.
The “Key to Atlanta” Argument
The argument started after NBA YoungBoy did a short performance on stage and was said to have been given the “Key to Atlanta.” This is an honorary award that the mayor of the city usually gives to people who have done a lot for the community.
But the Mayor’s office quickly denied the story, saying in a statement that the rapper had not been given the honor.
State Farm Arena said the concert was canceled after a lot of people publicly disagreed about whether or not the prize was real.
The venue’s announcement said, “State Farm Area has decided to cancel the NBA YoungBoy show that was supposed to take place in Atlanta on Saturday, October 18.”
