MUMBAI — Acclaimed actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui recently shared insights into his relationship with his daughter, Shora, revealing that her straightforward nature helps keep him grounded. In an interview with The New Indian, Nawazuddin spoke about his strong bond with Shora, who is currently studying in Dubai and is aspiring to follow her father’s footsteps into the world of acting.
“I am more attached to my daughter,” Nawazuddin said. “I yell at her sometimes, but she is very dear to me. She studies in Dubai and she is a moohphat (straightforward). She criticises me. The best part is she is not in awe of me. She doesn’t care that her father is a great actor — in two minutes, she can criticise me.”
When asked about the instances when his daughter has criticized him, Nawazuddin confessed that Shora often points out his habits, saying, “Mujhe zameen par laa deti hai (She brings me back to earth). I have some habits for which she scolds me.” He also revealed that Shora hasn’t watched many of his films.
The 15-year-old has already shown a glimpse of her acting talent. In July, Nawazuddin shared a video on his Instagram of Shora performing a scene in English with another actor, earning praise from many online for her performance and dialogue delivery. Nawazuddin has previously stated that his daughter is currently training to become an actor.
On the professional front, Nawazuddin was last seen in the film Costao, which was released on ZEE5. He is next set to appear in the horror-comedy Thama, which is part of Maddock’s horror-comedy universe. The film, which also stars Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, and Paresh Rawal, is scheduled for a Diwali 2025 release. Reports suggest Nawazuddin will play the antagonist in the film, which is directed by Aaditya Sarpotdar.
