Born in Punjab in 1932, Dr. Manmohan Singh was a distinguished economist who played a critical role in India’s economic reforms in 1991 as the Finance Minister. Known for his calm demeanor and intellectual depth, he served as Prime Minister of India for two consecutive terms from 2004 to 2014 after the Congress party’s victory in the 2004 Lok Sabha elections.

Dr. Singh retired from the Rajya Sabha earlier this year, concluding a distinguished parliamentary career spanning 33 years.
