Chandrababu Naidu Meets Bill Gates And Global Leaders At Davos To Drive Innovation In Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu met Bill Gates, Founder of Microsoft and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) summit in Davos. Their discussions centered on transforming Andhra Pradesh into a global hub for health, education, and innovation, according to an official statement.

Key Highlights of the Meeting

  1. Health Innovation and Diagnostics Centre Proposal:
    CM Naidu proposed the establishment of a Centre of Excellence for Health Innovation and Diagnostics in Andhra Pradesh. He emphasized the state’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge healthcare technologies to improve public health outcomes.
  2. Artificial Intelligence University:
    CM Naidu invited Bill Gates to join the advisory board of a proposed Artificial Intelligence University in the state. This initiative aims to position Andhra Pradesh as a leader in AI research and development while aligning with global technological advancements.
  3. Collaboration with BMGF:
    Naidu expressed interest in implementing BMGF’s successful health initiatives, including health dashboards and social programs, to address local challenges effectively. He assured Gates that Andhra Pradesh could serve as a gateway for the foundation’s initiatives across South India.“His (Bill Gates) focus on technology and innovation has been an inspiration to all,” said CM Naidu. “We discussed opportunities for collaboration in health and AI innovation, and I look forward to BMGF’s partnership in Andhra Pradesh’s progress.”

Meeting with Global Business Leaders

  • Unilever’s Investment in Palm Oil Industry:
    CM Naidu met Willem Uijen, Chief Supply Chain Officer of Unilever, to discuss investment opportunities in Andhra Pradesh. Unilever is considering a ₹330 crore investment to establish a palm oil industry in the state. The Chief Minister highlighted Visakhapatnam as an ideal location for Unilever’s technology center related to its beauty portfolio.Naidu also noted that Andhra Pradesh’s vast agricultural output could support food processing, beauty, and home care product manufacturing, encouraging Unilever to expand further in the state.
  • Collaboration with WEF for Clean Energy:
    In a meeting with Roberto Bocca, a member of the WEF Executive Committee, CM Naidu sought assistance in attracting global investments in areas such as green hydrogen, battery storage, and solar manufacturing. He also proposed the establishment of a Clean Energy Knowledge and Skill Development Center in Andhra Pradesh.
