The governor of Nagaland, La Ganesan, has died at the age of 80. An official from Raj Bhavan said that the current governor died on Friday night while getting treatment at a private hospital in Chennai.
Reports say that Ganesan had been in the hospital’s ICU for the last few days. He collapsed at his residence in Chennai on August 8 and hurt his head. He was sent to the hospital right away for critical care and monitoring.

Yanthungo Patton, the Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland, wrote on X to honor the late governor, “Deeply shocked and saddened by the passing of Hon’ble Governor of Nagaland, Shri La. Ganesan Ji.” He always acted with respect, humility, and a strong commitment to the well-being of the people during his time in public life.
On February 12, 2023, Ganesan was named the 21st governor of Nagaland. He took office on February 20, 2023.
