Wanaparthy (Telangana) [India]: A mysterious disease has caused the death of approximately 2,500 chickens over three days in poultry farms located in Konnur, Madanapuram mandal, Wanaparthy district, an official confirmed on Friday.
Disease Under Investigation
District Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Officer K Venkateshwar stated that the cause of the outbreak is being investigated.
“A mysterious disease has hit poultry farms in Konnur, Madanapuram mandal, Wanaparthy district, resulting in the deaths of approximately 2,500 chickens within a span of just three days,” he said.
Veterinary officials inspected the farm and collected samples, which have been sent to the laboratory for testing.

- February 16: 117 chickens died.
- February 17: 300 more deaths.
- February 18: The remaining fatalities occurred.
The outbreak occurred at Premium Farm, an integrated poultry farm with a capacity of 5,500, owned by Shivakehavulu.
Bird Flu Concerns in Andhra Pradesh
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh has been battling a bird flu outbreak in three districts, with strict containment measures in place.
✔ Dr. Satya Kumari, Additional Director of Animal Husbandry, confirmed that one lakh hens have been culled to curb the spread of bird flu.
✔ Agriculture & Animal Husbandry Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu reassured the public that strict measures are being taken to control the outbreak.
The results of the lab tests from Wanaparthy will determine whether bird flu or another infectious disease is responsible for the sudden poultry deaths.
