As part of the 72nd Miss World Festival, a group of Miss World 2025 contestants participated in a medical tourism initiative at AIG Hospitals in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, on Friday — blending global glamour with healthcare diplomacy.
According to a Telangana I&PR Department release, the event welcomed 25 contestants from the Africa Group, alongside doctors and psychologists from other regions including Guadeloupe, Turkey, Wales, Bosnia, Puerto Rico, Belgium, Guatemala, Lebanon, Malaysia, Poland, France, Northern Ireland, Guyana, and Malta. The visitors received a grand red carpet welcome, complete with rose petal showers by Telangana’s traditionally dressed staff and live shehnai music.
The delegates posed for photos with life-sized cutouts of themselves, which they personally autographed — adding a unique personal touch to the day’s engagements.
An Immersive Tour of AIG Hospitals
The programme began with a welcome address and presentation on AIG Hospitals’ legacy by its Chairman, Dr D Nageshwar Reddy. The contestants were then split into two groups for a guided walkthrough of key hospital facilities, including:
- Endoscopy Suites
- AI Experience Centre
- Chemotherapy Ward (with patient interaction)
- Research Centre
- Skill Labs
- Pediatric Ward
They were accompanied by top medical professionals such as Dr Sujana Priya, Dr GV Rao, and Dr Lakshmi.
Following the tour, Dr Reddy delivered a thought-provoking talk titled “The Future of Healthcare”, which was followed by a presentation by Dr Christina Z Chongthu, Telangana’s Health Secretary, highlighting the state’s efforts in cancer treatment and women’s health.
Telangana’s Healthcare Boom Gets Global Spotlight
Dr Reddy emphasized Telangana’s rise as a global medical tourism hub, stating:
“Telangana is rapidly becoming a beacon of medical excellence, combining world-class infrastructure and cutting-edge technology with compassionate care.”
Miss World Organisation Applauds Telangana’s Healthcare
Julia Morley CBE, Chairperson and CEO of the Miss World Organisation, praised the initiative:
“Among our candidates are doctors, psychologists, and medical students. This experience will allow them to understand and promote Telangana’s healthcare achievements globally.”
Medical Tourism Growth in Telangana
The event also showcased Telangana’s booming medical tourism sector, including:
- 1.55 lakh foreign medical tourists in 2024, up from 75,000 in 2014
- 8.82 crore domestic patients from across India in 2024 alone
With strong public-private investment, Telangana — under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy — is being transformed into one of India’s most accessible and affordable healthcare destinations.
This first-of-its-kind initiative that unites healthcare innovation and global cultural events positions Hyderabad as a top international medical tourism destination, symbolizing the synergy between beauty with a purpose and wellness with vision.
