Washington DC [US]: Tesla CEO Elon Musk has criticized US bureaucracy for delaying the implementation of executive orders signed by former President Donald Trump, claiming that government officials are “fighting against the will of the people.”
In a Fox News interview aired on Tuesday (local time), Musk spoke about his growing personal and political relationship with Trump and explained the role of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in ensuring that executive orders are properly enforced.
Musk: “I Love the President”
During the interview, Musk openly expressed his admiration for Trump, stating:
“I love the president. I think President Trump is a good man. The president has been so unfairly attacked in the media. It’s truly outrageous.”
Musk revealed that he had planned to endorse Trump in his bid for the White House but that the assassination attempt on Trump “sped it up.”
“I’m Here to Provide the President With Technology Support”
Describing his role in the Trump campaign, Musk called himself the “tech-support for the President.”
“I’m a technologist, and I try to make technologies that improve the world and make life better. I’m here to provide the President with technology support… It’s a very important thing because the President will make these executive orders, which are very sensible and good for the country, but then they don’t get implemented.”
Musk cited an example of how an executive order to halt taxpayer funding for migrant hotels was still being violated as recently as last week.
Musk Slams Bureaucracy: “We Live in a Bureaucracy, Not a Democracy”
The Tesla CEO accused government officials of blocking Trump’s policies, saying:
“The president is the elected representative of the people. If the bureaucracy is fighting the will of the people and preventing the president from implementing what the people want, then what we live in is a bureaucracy and not a democracy.”
Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is now working to ensure executive orders are properly enforced, he claimed.
“I Used to Be Adored by the Left”
Musk also reflected on his shift from being supported by liberals to becoming a target of criticism, stating:
“I used to be adored by the left, you know. Not anymore… They call it Trump derangement syndrome, and you don’t realize how real this is.”
He further joked about how people react when he mentions Trump’s name:
“It was like they got shot with a dart in the jugular that contained methamphetamine and rabies… They become completely irrational.”
Since endorsing Trump, Musk claims he has received “dirty looks from everyone”, adding:
“If looks could kill, I would have been dead several times over.”
Musk’s outspoken support for Trump and his attacks on government bureaucracy have further solidified his position as a major influencer in conservative politics, setting the stage for a highly contested 2024 election.
