Dhaka [Bangladesh]: Veteran wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim has made a comeback to Bangladesh’s Test squad for the upcoming two-match home series against Zimbabwe, starting April 20 in Sylhet.
Rahim, who missed Bangladesh’s previous red-ball assignment against the West Indies, returns alongside full-time captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, who is also back to lead the team after sitting out the last series.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), via the ICC, announced a 15-member squad for the first Test. Notably, Tanzim Hasan Sakib has received his maiden Test call-up. The 22-year-old pacer has already impressed in white-ball cricket, having played 10 ODIs and 22 T20Is, bagging a total of 37 international wickets so far.
Mushfiqur, one of Bangladesh’s most experienced Test players, has featured in 94 Tests, amassing 6,007 runs at an average of 37.80, with 11 centuries and 27 fifties.
On the other hand, pace spearhead Taskin Ahmed misses the series due to a left Achilles tendon injury, confirmed the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
