Congress leader Mumtaz Patel took a sharp dig at BJP MP Kangana Ranaut, accusing her of speaking without thinking and suffering from “shoot out of mouth syndrome” following Kangana’s controversial “bhediya” (wolf) remark targeting the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh.
“Kangana always speaks without thinking. She has shoot out of mouth syndrome. Let her speak whatever she wants, this shows what kind of parliamentarians BJP has,” Patel told media in a scathing response.
The “Bhediya” Controversy
The row erupted after Kangana Ranaut, while addressing a public gathering in her Mandi parliamentary constituency, likened the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh to “bhediyas” (wolves), saying the state was under their “claws” and needed rescue.
“It’s painful to watch Himachal’s condition… Their agencies are probing samosas… They are like bhediyas. We must free our state from their claws,” said Kangana.
This was in reference to the recent “samosa” controversy, where reports falsely claimed a probe was being launched over snacks served to the Chief Minister. Authorities later clarified the probe was into misconduct by officials—not over the samosa itself.
Patel’s Sharp Rebuttal
Mumtaz Patel fired back at Ranaut, questioning her understanding of the federal structure and whether she considers Himachal Pradesh part of India.
“If you are saying progress is happening in the country but not in Himachal, does that mean Himachal is not a part of the country? Doesn’t PM Modi have responsibility for Himachal too?” she asked.
She also rejected the claim of a Modi wave, arguing that BJP’s current strength is the result of a coalition, not a solo mandate.
“60% of people still vote against the BJP. It’s not a Modi government in Parliament—it’s an NDA government,” she clarified.
Political Fireworks Ahead of Elections
Kangana Ranaut’s comments come amid mounting political friction ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, where rhetoric has intensified on both sides. The actor-turned-MP, known for her aggressive political statements, has often courted controversy with her choice of words.
Congress, meanwhile, is aiming to corner the BJP over rising unemployment, inflation, and alleged “gimmick politics” while focusing on regional governance and coalition unity.
