Mumbai, June 17, 2025 – Heavy rainfall continued to lash Mumbai and surrounding areas on Monday, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue an ‘Orange’ alert for Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar, and a ‘Red’ alert for Raigad district.

According to BMC officials, the city received an average rainfall of 95 mm in the 24 hours ending at 8 am Monday. The eastern and western suburbs recorded 58 mm and 75 mm respectively.

🚇 Transport Disruptions
- Suburban Trains:
Central and Western Railway services delayed by 20–30 minutes, causing chaos during Monday’s morning rush hour. - Mumbai Metro:
The Ghatkopar–Andheri–Versova metro line was briefly halted due to a plastic sheet falling on overhead wires at Azad Nagar. “The services are running normally now,” said Mumbai Metro One on X. - Flights:
Airlines including IndiGo and SpiceJet issued advisories citing waterlogging, low visibility, and slow traffic en route to the airport.
IndiGo urged travelers to check flight status on its app or website and allow extra travel time.
🔺 Red Alert for Raigad
The IMD has predicted extremely heavy rainfall at isolated locations in Raigad and parts of Pune and Satara ghats in the next 16 hours. Mumbai remains on orange alert with caution advised.
