Mumbai Indians Announce IPL 2026 Squad: Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Bumrah Lead Strong Core

Five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians (MI) have officially unveiled their squad for IPL 2026, stepping into the new season with a clearer vision after an uneven 2025 campaign. As the retention window closed, MI stuck firmly with their big-ticket senior stars — Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Suryakumar Yadav — signaling their intention to rebuild around a proven and experienced core.

There were no major surprises in MI’s retention strategy. While the franchise released players including Reece Topley and Karn Sharma, they made some impactful moves in the trade window that could reshape their lineup for 2026.

One of the most discussed decisions was MI trading Arjun Tendulkar to the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). In return — through a separate individual deal — Mumbai brought in experienced Indian all-rounder Shardul Thakur, whose versatility with the ball and ability to contribute lower down the order could prove valuable.

In another significant trade, MI secured Sherfane Rutherford from the Gujarat Titans, adding a powerful middle-order option to their squad. The franchise also welcomed back Mayank Markande, enhancing their spin depth.
