Multiple individuals reportedly fell ill on Friday at Joint Base Andrews—the prominent American military base located in Maryland, just outside Washington D.C.—following the delivery of a suspicious package containing an unknown white powder.
The base, which is notably used by US President Donald Trump to board flights for important engagements, immediately activated emergency protocols upon the discovery.
Evacuation and Cordon Established
According to a report by media, several people at the base became sick after the package was opened. Joint Base Andrews confirmed the immediate precautionary measures taken:
“As a precaution, the building and connecting building (at the base) were evacuated, and a cordon was established around the area,” Joint Base Andrews stated.
Medical Attention and Ongoing Investigation
The personnel who fell ill due to exposure to the substance were immediately transported to the Malcolm Grove Medical Center located on the base for treatment and evaluation.
An active investigation is now underway to determine the nature of the white powder, its toxicity, and the source of the suspicious delivery. The incident highlights heightened security concerns at major military and government facilities.
