MS Dhoni Lauds Dewald Brevis And Anshul Kamboj After CSK’s Defeat To Rajasthan Royals

Following Chennai Super Kings’ six-wicket loss to Rajasthan Royals on Tuesday in Match 62 of IPL 2025, CSK captain MS Dhoni praised South African youngster Dewald Brevis for his explosive innings.

The 22-year-old Brevis smashed 42 runs off 25 balls at a blistering strike rate of 168, including three sixes and two fours. This knock brought his tally in the season to 168 runs in five matches.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, Dhoni said,
“I think Brevis’ innings was very nice, he was taking chances and I feel run-rate was nice, that’s the phase we want to improve slightly. I felt the run-rate was up but where we lacked was losing 1-2 extra wickets.”

Dhoni also singled out young Indian pacer Anshul Kamboj for his impressive bowling. Kamboj delivered three economical overs, conceding just 21 runs and picking up one key wicket.

“Kamboj is someone who doesn’t get swing, but he gets some seam movement, the ball hits you harder than the speed gun suggests, he has taken the responsibility and he is someone who can bowl good yorkers. That’s (powerplay) one area where there’s a hole for us, we don’t want to give away too many runs in the first six overs. He has bowled 3 overs in the powerplay, which I feel is tougher when the ball isn’t moving much and when the batsmen are well set,” Dhoni added.

In the match, Rajasthan Royals chased down a target of 188 with ease, securing a win with 17 balls to spare. A fiery start from Yashasvi Jaiswal (36) and a solid 98-run partnership between captain Sanju Samson and 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi sealed a dominant finish for Rajasthan in their final game of the season.
