Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], March 29: Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni has etched his name in the record books yet again, surpassing Suresh Raina to become the highest run-scorer for the five-time IPL champions.
The veteran wicketkeeper-batter achieved this milestone during CSK’s clash against RCB at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday. Dhoni played a quickfire knock of 30 off 16 balls* at an impressive strike rate of 187.5, hitting three fours and two sixes.
With this innings, the 43-year-old surpassed Raina’s tally of 4687 runs for CSK. Dhoni now boasts 4699 runs in 204 innings at a stellar average of 40.50 and a strike rate of 139.43.

RCB Ends 16-Year Wait for a Win at Chepauk
Despite Dhoni’s heroics, CSK suffered a 50-run defeat against Rajat Patidar-led RCB in the 18th edition of IPL. Pace duo Josh Hazlewood and Yash Dayal played a key role in RCB’s dominant victory, marking their first-ever win at Chepauk since 2008.
With two wins in two games, RCB now leads the IPL 2025 points table. Rajat Patidar was named Player of the Match for his match-winning fifty in the first innings.
