MrBeast Jokes About Becoming Next X CEO After Linda Yaccarino Steps Down, Internet Rallies Behind Him

Linda Yaccarino has officially stepped down as CEO of X, just two years after taking on the role, and the internet already has a popular candidate for her replacement—YouTube megastar MrBeast.

The idea isn’t new. In fact, it stems from a playful 2022 exchange between MrBeast (Jimmy Donaldson) and Elon Musk, when the YouTuber jokingly asked if he could become the next Twitter CEO. Musk responded with a teasingly open-ended,
“It’s not out of the question.”

Fast forward to now—Yaccarino’s resignation has reignited that conversation. Reacting to a tweet announcing her departure, MrBeast posted:
“I’ll fill the roll.”

The typo in his post (writing “roll” instead of “role”) sparked a flood of reactions—some amused, others mock-critical.
One user quipped, “Basic skill of a CEO is knowing the difference between roll and role. Already disqualified.”
Another joked, “Elon won’t trust you, MrBeast. You may give away X on your next YouTube video.”
A third chimed in, “Can we be Co-CEOs?”

Supporters have flooded Elon Musk’s mentions, urging him to “make it happen.” MrBeast’s massive global following and unconventional business approach are part of the appeal for fans eager to see a creative mind take the helm.

Meanwhile, Yaccarino shared a heartfelt goodbye on X, saying:

“When @elonmusk and I first spoke of his vision for X, I knew it would be the opportunity of a lifetime to carry out the extraordinary mission of this company.”

She added,

“I’m immensely grateful to him for entrusting me with the responsibility of protecting free speech, turning the company around, and transforming X into the Everything App.”

Elon Musk’s response? A short, stoic:
“Thank you for your contributions.”
The remark drew reactions online, with many calling it “cold as dry ice.”

As speculation builds, MrBeast’s name continues to trend. Whether he’s serious or just playing along with the internet, the idea of a billionaire YouTuber running a social media giant like X certainly has the internet buzzing.
