Los Angeles [US], January 2 : YouTube sensation MrBeast, aka Jimmy Donaldson, started the new year with a special personal milestone. On January 1, 2025, he announced his engagement to girlfriend Thea Booysen, sharing the joyful news on Instagram with several heartwarming pictures of the proposal.
“Ya boy did a thing,” MrBeast captioned the post, leaving his followers thrilled with the update. Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty also congratulated the couple, commenting, “Wohooo Congratulations ❤️.”
According to People, MrBeast popped the question to Thea on Christmas at their home, surrounded by their families. Thea described the moment, saying, “My family flew out from South Africa for Christmas, and we were opening presents. Jimmy asked me to close my eyes for the last surprise, and when I opened them, there was the ring. Of course, I said yes!”
MrBeast shared that the proposal was kept private and intimate, despite the expectation of a public spectacle. “I wanted it to be really private and intimate,” he explained, adding that he knew Thea’s family being present was essential for the moment.
The couple first met in 2022 when MrBeast visited South Africa. They quickly connected over their shared interests in science, YouTube, and a range of intellectual topics. “She has such a range of knowledge and can go deep on lots of topics,” MrBeast said, reflecting on their bond. The couple made their first public appearance together at the 2022 Kids’ Choice Awards.
In 2023, MrBeast visited India, where he met several Bollywood celebrities during his trip.
