Maharashtra Government To Table 20 Bills During Upcoming Winter Session

Nagpur (Maharashtra) [India]: The Maharashtra government has announced plans to table 20 bills during the upcoming winter session of the Maharashtra Assembly, as the cabinet expansion process was completed. The session, scheduled from December 16 to December 21 in Nagpur, will see significant legislative activity, including the introduction of new bills and the discussion of supplementary demands.

Speaking at a press conference in Nagpur’s Ramgiri on Sunday, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis emphasized that “dynamic governance” had begun in Maharashtra. “From today, Maharashtra will see a new phase of dynamic governance,” Fadnavis stated.

Plans for Legislative Business
The assembly session will focus on key issues, including a “supplementary demand” to discuss additional expenditure needed for the remainder of the financial year. It will also include various proposals from both the ruling and opposition parties.

The government intends to introduce 6 entirely new bills, while 14 existing ordinances will be tabled to convert them into bills.

Cabinet Expansion
Earlier on Sunday, 39 leaders from the Mahayuti coalition took the oath of office to expand the state government’s cabinet. The portfolio allocation is expected to be finalized in the coming days.

Fadnavis announced that 20 bills would be introduced during the session, alongside discussions on the Governor’s speech. “Thirty-nine leaders have taken the oath today, six of whom are state ministers. In two days, portfolio allocation will be clarified,” he stated.

Cabinet Composition
Among the 39 newly sworn-in ministers, 19 are from the BJP, 11 from Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde), and 9 from the NCP (Ajit Pawar). Key BJP leaders inducted into the cabinet include Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, Chandrakant Patil, Girish Mahajan, Pankaja Munde, and Ashok Uike, among others.

Shiv Sena’s new ministers include Gulab Patil, Dada Bhuse, and Uday Samant, while the NCP’s new appointees include Hasan Mushrif, Dhananjay Munde, and Aditi Tatkare.

Additionally, six state ministers have been sworn in, including BJP’s Madhuri Misal, Pankaj Bhoar, and Meghna Bordikar, Shiv Sena’s Ashish Jaiswal and Yogesh Kadam, and NCP’s Indranil Naik.
