MP Swati Maliwal Slams Badshah Over ‘Tateeree’ Controversy; Demands Strict Action

Rapper Badshah has faced a fresh wave of backlash as Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal expressed her “disgust” over his new Haryanvi track, Tateeree. On Saturday, the former DCW chief took to X (formerly Twitter) to condemn the song, accusing it of objectifying schoolgirls through “crass and vulgar” lyrics. Maliwal emphasized that influential artists have a responsibility to uphold societal standards and insisted that such content should not be normalized as mainstream entertainment.

The controversy surrounding the track has already led to significant legal hurdles for the singer. An FIR has been registered at the Sector 20 police station in Panchkula, following multiple complaints regarding the song’s offensive language, suggestive gestures, and the use of school uniforms in a derogatory context. Additionally, the Haryana State Commission for Women (HSCW) has issued a formal summons to Badshah, seeking an explanation for the objectionable content.

Maliwal has called for an immediate takedown of the song from all digital platforms and urged authorities to take stringent action against the rapper. This development adds to the growing pressure on the music industry to vet content that may negatively impact social norms and the safety of minors.
