Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav Increases Ladli Behna Scheme Assistance to ₹1,500 From October

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Thursday announced a ₹250 hike in monthly financial assistance under the Ladli Behna Scheme, increasing the amount from ₹1,250 to ₹1,500 starting October 2025, coinciding with Diwali. The move is expected to benefit around 12.7 million women aged between 21 and 60.

Speaking virtually at a World Sickle Cell Day programme held in Talun village of Barwani, the CM said:

“Just like last year, we will provide ₹250 extra in the month of August on the occasion of Rakshabandhan. From October, the monthly assistance will be increased to ₹1,500.”

The popular scheme, launched by the BJP-led government in March 2023, initially provided ₹1,000 per month. It was increased to ₹1,250 in 2024. The BJP’s Assembly Election 2023 manifesto had promised to scale the amount up to ₹3,000 per month.

“We remain committed to our goal of providing ₹3,000 per month to our ladli sisters. The scheme began with ₹1000 per month, which was later increased to ₹1,250. By 2028, we aim to raise it to ₹3,000,” said Yadav.

CM Yadav addressed the event online from the Indore collectorate, as his helicopter couldn’t take off due to poor weather. Governor Mangubhai Patel and Deputy CM Rajendra Shukla attended the event in person by travelling via road.

The Ladli Behna Scheme continues to be a cornerstone of the state government’s efforts toward women’s economic empowerment and social upliftment, especially in rural areas.
