NEW DELHI: Mother Dairy has officially disputed claims that it raised the price of its Lassi without telling anyone first. The company used social media to clear up the rumor that the price of their 180ml Lassi pack had gone up to ₹35. It is still ₹20.
Kamlesh Singh, an X (previously Twitter) user, started the confusion. Singh posted a picture of the Lassi pack and said that the price had gone up by a “whopping 75% overnight.” That post has since been deleted. He thought the figure “35,” which was posted next to the MRP, was the new price.
Dear Mr. Singh, The price of Mother Dairy Tetra Lassi is INR. 20/- for 180 ml pack. The code starting with 35 refers to plant code followed by batch code. We deeply regret the inconvenience caused. Request to share your contact details by DM for our team to reach out to you.…

Hours after the post got a lot of attention, Mother Dairy’s Consumer Services staff responded and explained the mistake. “The price of Mother Dairy Tetra Lassi is Rs 20/- for a 180 ml pack,” the company’s official account said. The code that starts with 35 is the plant code, and the code that comes after it is the batch code. We are very sorry for the trouble this has caused.
After the explanation, Singh admitted he was wrong and said that a local store owner might have been charging customers too much because of the packaging detail. “Well, then, the merchant in the neighborhood has been lying to people. In return, he will get some tariff today. “Meanwhile, I take this back because your word is official,” he said.
This happened after Mother Dairy’s recent price change, which was on April 30. The company raised the price of milk by up to ₹2 per liter. The company said that input costs had gone up a lot because of a heat wave that made buying things cost ₹4-5 more per liter.
