Desperate Mother Breaches Security To Meet Rohit Sharma After Indore ODI

Indore: A bizarre and emotionally charged incident unfolded in Indore following the third ODI between India and New Zealand on Sunday, after a woman was caught on camera attempting to evade security personnel to reach Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma. The video of the incident quickly went viral on social media, raising serious concerns over stadium security while also drawing sympathy after the woman revealed the reason behind her actions.

In the widely circulated clip, the woman is seen slipping past security officials in what appeared to be a major breach of safety protocols. However, she was ultimately stopped before she could meet Rohit Sharma and was escorted away by security staff. While the visuals initially triggered criticism over lax security arrangements, the narrative took a dramatic turn when the woman herself came forward with an explanation.

Woman Identified As Sarita Sharma, Appeals For Help

The woman has been identified as Sarita Sharma, who later released a video statement explaining that her actions were driven by desperation, not celebrity obsession. Sarita said her young daughter, Anika, is suffering from a serious and rare illness that requires a life-saving injection costing ₹9 crore, which needs to be imported from the United States.

According to Sarita, despite months of efforts, including fundraising camps and public appeals, she has only managed to raise ₹4.1 crore, leaving a massive shortfall with time rapidly running out.

“My name is Sarita Sharma. My daughter Anika is battling a severe illness. To save her life, we urgently need an injection worth ₹9 crore. It has to be imported from America,” she said in her video message.

Attempted To Seek Help From Rohit Sharma And Virat Kohli

Sarita revealed that she deliberately tried to approach well-known Indian cricketers such as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, believing they might help her cause due to their known involvement in charitable activities for children.

“We organised donation camps and even tried collecting funds during the India-New Zealand match, but it was not enough. I was trying to meet Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli because they have helped children in the past,” she explained.

She also clarified that her intention was never to click selfies or seek publicity, but purely to plead for help.

Apology And Emotional Appeal Go Viral

In an emotional admission, Sarita said she went to the hotel where Rohit Sharma was staying and, overwhelmed by emotions, ended up grabbing his hand — an action that quickly attracted security attention.

“I was not there for selfies. I just want to save my child’s life. In that moment, emotions took over. I sincerely apologise to the authorities for my actions,” she said.

She concluded her message with a heartfelt appeal to the Indian cricket stars:

“I request Virat sir and Rohit sir — if you receive my message, please help me. I did not know what else to do.”

Security Concerns And Public Reaction

While the incident has triggered discussions about security lapses at international sporting events, it has also sparked widespread empathy online, with many users calling for support for Sarita’s cause. The episode highlights the extreme lengths parents can be driven to when faced with medical emergencies and financial impossibilities.
